GENERAL DESCRIPTION: This position is responsible for the evaluation and implementation of recreation treatment plans and behavior management systems for each resident, utilizing discretion and independent judgment. Responsible for the development, management, and supervision of all recreation activities on grounds and within the community. Ensures that a therapeutic treatment atmosphere is present in all recreation activities.
Hours: 12pm-8pm; weekends required.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES: Prefer Bachelor’s Degree in Recreation Management or Recreation Therapy. Prior experience working with adolescents. Prefer Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist designation. Must be certified in, or be eligible for certification in First Aid/CPR and Therapeutic Crisis Intervention (TCI). Computer knowledge and excellent written/oral communication skills. Good organizational, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills needed. Demonstrated time management skills and ability to be flexible due to schedule conflicts and/or crisis management. Knowledge of team building practices and programs. Ability to work independently and within a team environment.
